Do I need a Repair or Replacement?

At Carglass® we prefer to repair your existing windscreen before replacing it with a new one, usually saving you both time and money. Sometimes, the type, size and position of the damage will mean that we recommend the whole Windscreen be replaced. Please take a look at our Repair presentation on the Glass Repair & Replace tab on our home page to see if it is likely that we will be able to repair the damage to your existing Windscreen, or whether we recommend that it is replaced. Is it safe to drive until I have the work completed?

As long as the driver’s vision is not compromised it is usually safe to drive your vehicle. Windscreens are made of 2 layers of glass with a tough layer of film in between. This means that your windscreen will rarely collapse. If you don’t want to drive to us to get your windscreen replaced, we can come to you at a time that is convenient. I have made an appointment, how do I know when the technician will arrive?

Your technician will ring you between 08:30 and 09:30 on the morning of your appointment and confirm the time that he will complete your job.

What is covered by Warranty?

Our lifetime warranty on workmanship is nationwide and you are covered as long as you own the vehicle. At Carglass® we do everything possible to get things right first time, every time. However, problems can occasionally occur and if one does, we will act quickly to put matters right. In the unlikely circumstances that you do experience a problem, simply call us free of charge on 04-3847750 to speak with one of our Customer Service Representatives.

I want to take my vehicle to your branch, when are you open?

Our branches are open Saturday to Thursday between 08:00 and 18:00. Use our branch locator to find the most convenient Carglass® branch for you.

I have had a job done and wish to discuss this with somebody, how can I do this?

It is likely to be raining when my technician arrives, what cover do I need to have available?

Our technicians cannot complete repairs or replacements in the rain it affects the quality of our work. We need a covered space such as a carport or garage. Both the passenger and drivers doors need to be under cover when opened for the technician to work on your vehicle. In the event that your appointment has been scheduled on a rainy day and you do not have sufficient cover or you cannot travel to a branch, the branch will contact you to reschedule. Alternatively, you can contact our customer contact centre on 04-3847750 and one of representatives will arrange your appointment at the next available time.

Are your Technicians qualified?

Our Technicians are trained to the highest international standards. Every Carglass® Technician is required to achieve the independent Automotive Technician Accreditation (ATA) accredited standard. Also, all Carglass® Technicians are trained to our internal ‘Belron® Way of Fitting’ training programme and continually assessed to ensure compliance.

How long will it be before I can drive my vehicle safely?

Usually, you can drive away one hour after a front windscreen or rear window replacement, or immediately after a windscreen repair or side window replacement.

Our technicians use the best materials, including the industry's first adhesive with a one-hour drive-away time for windscreen installations. The technician will advise you if any additional time is required.

How much will it cost?

Simply put, the cost will depend on three main factors:

  • The type of damage e.g. a chip or a crack
  • The piece of glass that is damaged e.g. the windscreen or side window
  • If your vehicle insurance covers you for glass damage
